Born in Guangzhou (Canton), China, Grandmaster Alex Feng was immersed in the three pillars of Daoism from childhood: physical strength and well being, healing, and spiritual development.
The path of Dao revealed itself to Grandmaster Feng at an early age. As described in his words: “Zhi Dao – I was born into this Path. I was destined for a spiritual life and an obligation to share that. Since my youth I have been gifted with healing powers for both myself and for others. Realization of this spiritual and healing path is my karma, my purpose.”

An experienced acupuncturist, herbologist, feng shui master, and medical qi gong grandmaster, Dr. Feng sees patients four days a week at Zhi Dao Guan’s Clinic for Traditional Chinese Medicine. Dr. Feng was formerly on the faculty of the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences, as well as staff acupuncturist at Chinese Hospital, San Francisco, and Director of Integrative Medicine at Highland Hospital in Oakland.
He is Faculty Emeritus with the Integrative Medicine/Traditional Chinese Medicine Residency with ICIM and Sutter Bay Hospitals. He has served the TCM community in the U.S. as past Chairman of the National Commission for Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and also as a consultant to the California Acupuncture Exam Sub-Committee.
Master Alex Feng developed the Wu Chien Pai system and opened the Wu Tao Kuan Martial Arts Institute in 1973 in Berkeley. Wu Tao Kuan is now housed at Zhi Dao Guan, the Taoist Center, where Shi Fu Feng continues to blend the uniqueness of Chinese and Japanese styles of martial arts and healing arts into the Wu Chien Pai system.
Master Feng has been teaching Tai Ji (yang and chen), Qi Gong, and push hands for the past fifty years, and has trained national champions in tai ji forms and weapons.
