Tai Ji Quan

Tai Ji Quan (also spelled Tai Chi Chuan) is a martial art which emphasizes correct body postures and natural movements to improve physical health and increase energy. Tai ji is so versatile that people of all ages will find it useful, from old to young. The practice of tai ji includes but is not limited to solo or group form practice, basic posture and movement practice, to partner exercises such as push hands and sparring. The students are taught to recognize and gather and use their qi to do these forms. Classes are available in the popular Yang style, both 24 and 42, which concentrates on relaxation and slow movements which flow from one to the other. We also teach the Chen style of tai ji, which is done somewhat faster than Yang style and uses coiling movements to gather and give out explosive energy.  Dr. Feng also offers Advanced Classes in tai ji sword, broad sword, ba gua, and tai ji spear.

There are three components to tai ji practice: spiritual, medical and martial.  Did you know that each movement in tai ji forms has a fighting application? Although it may be done quite slowly, it is important to learn the intent behind each movement. We teach these applications so that your tai ji, in addition to being beautiful and relaxing, has purpose and clarity.

Dr. Alex Feng has been teaching Tai Ji and Qi Gong for the past forty -five years. He  is a master of this traditional Chinese internal martial art form, and has trained national champions in tai ji forms. There are also many advanced students to help you train. We often have distinguished visitors from overseas, such as Professor Wang Pei-Kun, a tenth degree wushu judge from China.
